Tenancy deposit protection was introduced on 6th April 2007 as part of the Housing Act 2004, a general overview is available at

You can use any of the following schemes if your property is in England or Wales:

• Deposit Protection Service

• MyDeposits

• Tenancy Deposit Scheme
